I fished a match recently feeding 6mm pellets (fish were coming to noise of pellets hitting water)and used meat as hook bait it worked to good effect. Would corn give the same effect my thinking is that its a heavier bait and less likely to be moved about by feeding fish therefore giving more positive bites.Opinions please.

        Cheers.

Lots of the waters i fish respond best to loads of hemp and either meat or corn. Unlike in the deeper water swims where im always concerned that the fish will get preoccupied with feeding to much hemp. Feeding very heavy with hemp and a few samples of meat or corn can be devisting in the margins. Generally, once the fish turn up its instant unmissable bites and very few problems with line bites or foul hookers that other baits often produce. Also come to the conclussion that it often puts bigger carp in the margins on a few waters. Starting to think that hemp is seen as a very safe food for some of the bigger carp on some venues. I always feed by hand or with a catty and aim to make as much noise as i posibly can with my feeding in the margins. Im also not worried about keeping the feed tight. If some feed goes down the shelf. I think it just helps to draw the fish in to the magins faster and with more confidence. Once there heads are down and feeding. There is not much chance of them backng off while there is more hemp going in regularly!

For feeder baits I agree with hemp and pellets, and from our range we have good feedback on EFG131 groundbait with JPZ pellets as a hook bait in the margins. The EFG 131 groundbait fizzes well when it breaks down, creating an interest from the fish.

Have you had a go with any margin fishing techniques this weekend?

Yes that EFG131 does fizz well, so well some of the green stuff floats off 🙂

Efg131 sounds like good value is that £6.99 for a two kilo bag? :p

I suppose the green stuff that floats off is seaweed? (full of nutriants) or nori the generic term for farmed seaweed used for wrapping sushi, now why on earth would they put that in a groundbait to bulk it out?

oh yes, I see it’s healthy for fish, not those that are in the sushi wrap though

generally meat is pretty reliable, sometimes fished on the drop.

Is anyone doing well in the Margins in this weather and with the fish spawning?
