TF_Waveney OneI heard the tidal Trent fished pretty well last year. I don’t think that the Yare was as good last season as it has been but it was still great fishing. Worms are ordered as are the maggots to turn for casters. I will have another go at doing some red home breds this year but I don’t think that the weather is condusive to getting a blow at the moment!
Anyway best of luck to all those who venture out onto a river on 16th June.
I haven’t missed fishing on 16th June since 1963. I even managed to persuade my sister to change her wedding date as she stupidly arranged a 16th June date. I told her that our Dad wouldn’t be there to give her away as we would both be out fishing!

TF_AlibongoParticipantHi Loda, if the tidal is half what it was last season you will really enjoy it. Been speaking to the agling god that is Dean Smith this morning and its carrying quite a bit of water at the minute. If that stays in for the 1st weekend it could fish it’s gonads off!
Speak later.

TF_NoCarpPleasegood luck to all …… as I’m in recovery mode from an op I can’t carry anything heavy or fish a long pole, so proper river matches are out til mid July I reckon.
So I’ll either go on a canal and relive my youth with the squatt waggler ….. or go pleasure fishing for some dace and anything that comes along on the Warks Avon or Great Ouse (1 rod and bait apron job). -

TF_AlibongoParticipantThats great waveney, would love to come down there for a go. Yare sounds very much like the tidal trent from what i have read.
just seen the forecast for friday & giving heavy rain! I hope we dont get to much or the tidal may be unfishable! 😮 😮 😮 😮
-
11/06/2012 at 8:21 pm #159670
TF_Waveney OneI hope that it doesn’t spoil things for you mate.
The Yare is different to most rivers. Being in the relatively dry and flat E Anglia Region we don’t get run off from mountains or hills and rain doesn’t affect the river too much, well not with the amount of rain we normally get here. It does affect the Cam and Ouse and the lesser rivers like my local Gipping. In fact the more rain we get often the clearer the river runs. Normally the cold weather also means a clearer river but I heard at the weekend that the Yare has a good colour at present.
My local river is becoming more like a spate river. A few weeks back it was 6 feet up and yesterday you could have walked across it!
-
11/06/2012 at 9:21 pm #159686
TF_AlibongoParticipantThe tidal reacts really well to extra water its just that to much and you struggle to keep bait & line clean. Been on there when its been half way up the bank and its fished brilliant just dropping it off the rod end. only problem is that its already half way up the bank and another big down fall could cause a major problem.
TBH we dont appear to be getting anymore until friday so could be spot on!
Fingers crossed 😀 😀 😀 😀

Sunday was much better but still very peggy. I shall be doing a full report of the weekend tomorrow.
Tonight could be good match as we are getting a split tide which will hold the river up a little bit which is what i think these skimmers & bream are wanting!
the good thing was that loads of roach were caught over the weekend most of them nudging 1lb and some over 1 1/2lb! 😮
