I have always used Maxima on my pellet wag and feeder reels and loved it but lately i have been having nightmares with it and am also thinking of changing lines….
Preston power line has been recommended too me and also the Gama G line

Sufix Elite is a fantastic reel line, been using it for the last 12 months for all my feeder fishing. Very rear to hear people have problems with maxima though not used it since trying the Sufix Elite.

2 Things,

1. You have to make sure you wind the line on correctly as this will create line twist if done the wrong way.

2. Are you catching big fish and using the clutch as this will also cause line twist. When the line come off the reel it come off straight with the clutch. When you open the bail arm the line come off in the opposite twist to when it was wound on.

To remove twist the easiest way is to pull the line off the reel and lay it out in a long line and then rewind it back on. If you do it on a windy day and hold the rod high the line will blow in the wind and allow the twist to untwist.

all lines will twist if wrongly spooled,but you can use a gardner spin doctor to help sort this out.

The last batch of this line is giving me trouble with line twist I have taken 2 spools back to the tackle shop and these have been change but the exchanged spools have given the same problem. :confused:
I use quality reels and have not had this problem before :confused:

If its a problem that’s started recently you might want to check that the roller on your real hasn’t got jammed up with groundbait or something. That can cause line twist.

the line twist is either caused by the reel or by the end rig, as for line you can use the cheaper bog standard main lines such as diawa sensor, however I use ultima power steel for all my feeder work 6lb bomb and pellet feeders 8lb if I am chucking heavier methods etc, however power steel in 300 yards is hard to get hold of and you may have to search around, since using this line crack off’s are non existant, in fact the line on my reel must be at least 4years old and it’s still spot on, however quality costs a bit more, I have some bulk spools of daiwa sensor clear bought at one of the shows for next to no money however it ain’t going on my reels until either power steel goes out of production or hell freezes over as it’s no where near as good, if push came to shove and ultima went t*ts up then I would possibly go back to shimano technium which is better in my opinion than the rest however at the mo I’ll stick to whats on my reels.
as far as maxima lines go they sink because they absorb water, the best line again imo is neutral bouancy as bites in these bag up days can be instant I want a line that I can use for all methods sinks a little when persuaded to and not like a stone this way I can use the line for pellet wag work as well as feeder work, however everyone has a different veiw on lines. I must admit I did check various lines at one of the shows on a line testing machine I was not impressed with quite a few however thats not to told on a website

Took the words out of my mouth! Buy the bulk spool of sensor line. About a mile for under a tenner!

Have to agree about the Sufix Elite.Been using it for 3 years now and found it was hard to buy any in the shops.Then found out that Gardner had now taken the line on and it’s called hydro FLO.Good value too,as it is £4.99 for 300m.

Didnt know this! will need to check up as may explain why im struggling to locate. thanks for the info slippery.
