Hi, does anyone know any decent pegs on the river Calder in the Wakefield and surrounding areas. Please message me if any advice! Many thanks.

Lots of pegs below Chantry Bridge on the right bank, but watch out for popped-up eastern europeans around the first few pegs – you’ll see where they congregate from the empty cans of Lech that they leave. I’ve never had any trouble but they’re best avoided.
Try maggot feeder but there should be a few folk on the bank who will tell you how to tackle it. There used to be a good barbel peg just above the bridge but the new Hepworth gallery has ruined it.

Scarf is right there are a few pegs right bank below Chantry bridge which are free, If you turn off Doncaster road where pizza corner is and cut down by the canal you get to an area of the river called foundry bridge they fish off the concrete there and catch alot of chub Ive been watching them this morning while dog walking. There are a few “left overs” hang around down there trying to cadge fish for the table but there not violent just tell em to clear off.
