Cavendish win on stage 18 is one of the most exciting things I’ve seen in sport. Team Sky timed the arrival of the peleton to perfection and he comes past like his nickname (the missile). The guy whom he overtook to take the lead simply stopped pedaling and waved his arm in despair as he shot by. Remember he’d already cycled 138 miles just to get to the sprint. http://www.itv.com/tourdefrance/stages/stage18/

It was an outstanding effort by the whole of Team Sky to deliver a 1-2 in the General Classification as well as 6 six stage wins.

I was sceptical when I heard that Wiggins had been made the pre-race favourite but his whole season had been planned to get him and the team into peak condition for the tour.

If Wiggins doesn’t win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award this year there is no justice. I can’t see any Olympian doing anything to surpass what Wiggins has achieved in the last three weeks (& the season as a whole).

Cavendish’s explosive performance at the finish of Stage 18 was awe inspiring.

Here’s hoping for more cycling golds in the Olympics on both the road and track.

Team Sky blew em all away in the all important mountain stages aswell , spectactular viewing 😎 😎 Like has been said previous i was also sceptical of all the pre tour hype of Wiggins being made clear favourite ……. an Englishman winning the Tour de France ????? NEVER LOL 😀 😀 😎 Think Froome should now be given the chance to win it next year , how cool and disciplined was he throughout the whole tour 😉 😉

Lastly …… whats in them go faster food bars and drinks the support cars give the Team Sky riders ????? I WANT SOME !!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😎

Totally agree with Pr@angler: Cavs finish was nothing short of awesome and the surprise element made it even more so. I don’t think any other cyclist alive could have competed with the speed of the attack after completing the rest of that stage. That wa sone of the most memorable sights of this year’s tour for me.

The SKY team gave a simply brilliant example of precisely what team spirit should encompass. Froome waited for Wiggins on the last mountain stage when he could have overtaken Wiggins in the GC by storming off, since he clearly had the better legs at that time. He didn’t and should be hugely applauded for his unselfish actions and the following of team plans: the temptation must have been huge. Even Wiggins did his part by leading the peloton back to the front and giving Boasen Hagen a chance of victory after the protection he recieved earlier. Unfortunately Edvald couldn’t achieve it but the site of them tearing round the outside of the leading group was incredible.

I can’t see why Cav would stay with the SKY team for much longer, as their aspirations are clearly with the GC and not with sprinting. I’m pretty sure that if there is any chink in his contract, he’ll be off asap.

Nevertheless the SKY management team have done Britain proud and have given us some serious changes of metalware in the Olympics. Well done to them.
