MOLANDS Lots of carp on top with the hot weather and pellet waggler fished tight across has worked well in matches. Pleasure anglers using floating baits have had some big fish with plenty of doubles coming out. The F1’s are still not really going well and this has made for some patchy sport. Skimmers, tench and crucians are coming to the pole and paste or pellet fished short or down the margins. Best pegs 2 – 5, 15, 19, 26 – 31, 41 – 46 and 58 – 60.
GEARYS Much improved through the week with some good weights winning matches and better back up weights albeit a little patchy still. Pellet waggler fished along the high bank has accounted for some big nets to pleasure anglers and over 100lb weights in matches. Worm, paste or pellet fished down the near margin is working for mixed nets of carp, skimmers, crucians and tench. Top pegs 6 – 13, 18 – 20, 27 and 30 – 36.
LITTLE GEARYS There has been a lot of consistent action this week on Little Gearys with 30 – 50lb bags possible from every peg and winning weights to nearly 100lb. F1’s in the 1 – 3lb range are making up the bulk of catches but carp and skimmers have been feeding well this week. Shallow pole and pellet is the No.1 tactic but method feeder to the island or paste down the edge is also catching plenty of fish. Top pegs 3, 5 – 12, 21 and 23 – 27.
GRATUITIES Crucians are feeding well on here with nets to 50lb on the pole fished paste or pellet and the best catches are coming by fishing short at 2 – 3 metres out. Carp and tench are coming to the pellet feeder/method feeder fished to the island and meat on the pole at 6 – 8 metres is also working well. Best pegs are 1, 4, 8 – 11 and 15.
WILLOW Very popular with most pegs taken each day by pleasure anglers and most have enjoyed good sport with carp, F1’s, tench, skimmers and crucians feeding well. A small method feeder fished to the island or pole fished with meat, worm, corn or paste down the near margin have been the best tactics.
SIBLINGS Plenty of carp in the 6 – 12lb range coming out to surface baits. Mixed nets of skimmers, crucians and tench are being caught on the pellet or meat fished down the near margin. Best area has been the top end around the reed beds.
ANNIVERSARIES Mixed nets of crucians, skimmers, tench, carp and small barbel are coming to pellet or caster fished on the pole up to the islands and catches to over 60lb have been reported this week. The bigger carp have been on top all week and they are cagey fish with double figure ghosties and commons coming out to dog biscuit or bread on the surface.
