The fourth round of the Dams and Lock summer league on the Birmingham-Fazeley Canal at Minworth saw a fantastic winning weight of nearly 33lb – made up of just two fish! Midlands Maver rod Dave Brown drew peg 46 behind the Hare’s and Hound Pub, where he pole-fished chopped worm and caster and latched into two chunky carp. Team mate Dave Lloyd was second in the 67-pegger with 11-3-9.

Good fish those, not knocking the anglers or the club but I dont see the point in allowing carp in a canal match, there not in every peg and they change the whole perspspective of a match, whats the point in grafting and putting 8lb of silvers together when 1 carp could wipe you out ?

Because you could sit all day for one and not get a bite.

Just changes the direction of the match in my opinion Geeps, I must admit I would love to catch a canal carp on the pole, the canal I used to fish a 2lb skimmer was a bonus fish

Still is on almost any canal I can think of.
But I don’t think you should ban a species that you can catch legitimately with legal methods.
                What about chub? And tench?
