After a recent session fishing a method feeder tight to an island (micro pellets round the feeder with a hair rigged pellet as hookbait) I was left very frustrated with frequent massive violent takes but not resulting in a hooked fish.
Also I had a few snapped hooklengths. I tried different baits and bigger hooks and stronger hooklenths but to no avail?

Can anyone help with this as I just seemed to be getting liners and takes with hardly any hooked fish and some broken hooklenghts 😡

Cant speak for the hooklengths breaking but try leaving the bait out of the mould…3-4″ away from method.

Try having the clutch loose so they can take some line. Also try fishing a big bait like bread flake, in or out of the feeder. Are you using QM1 hooks as these are the best feeder hooks.
You could also try a swan shot about 2ft from the feeder to hold the line down.

Sit on your hands and don’t do anything until the rod nearly goes in. Don’t be afraid of heavy hooklengths. I frequently use 8lb daiwa sensor 😀

Also have a bomb rod ready and alternate the method with either a straight lead and hair rigged pellet or the conker (paste around a pellet). It helps when you have too many fish in the swim and your adding to much loose feed (IE the micros).

Thanks everyone I suspect I had to many fish in the swim going crazy for the micro pellets and was using a 6lb hooklenth. I will know what to try next time 😀
