Honest question, do you not get bored fishing the same venue every week ?

Slider, the venue Gav fished acutally has 2 lakes, which are rotated regularly. Both pose very different challenges and even individual swims on one lake vary hugely. It’s also a venue that is man made but certainly doesn’t have the stocking levels of a commie and is very old and naturalised, so I can see several reasons why he’s happy fishing there. It’s like asking a river angler if he ever gets bored with fishing the/a river.

Forgot to mention, the fish there are also in great nick and give excellent accounts of themselves, too.

I know there are 2 lakes a I read his blog MOK.

I still ask my original question though, is it not boring fishing the same place every week ?

Your comparison of the river is not really a very good one is it, knowing river fishing like i do you can walk 100 meters down any river and the variation in fishing is vast in terms of species and methods.

Mark, the honest answer is no, I don’t! If I did, I wouldn’t do it!

There’s a good core of regulars, while the fishing varies too – long pole, short pole and margins, while the baits do too. I’d get more fed up if I was fishing my local river – less fish, bank walkers, doo pooh and rowers! Not to mention the pike (where were a complete pain in the ar$e for me in the Div 2 National this year too) Incidentally Mark, our lowland fen rivers change very little in miles – much less varied than the Bristol Avon.

I’ve not long been back from a six month break where I wasn’t able to fish, so I go where I enjoy myself – even if it does frustrate me at times! It’s simply a case of whatever floats your boat really. Some people may like a different venue every week, that’s their choice. I like going somewhere where I can catch a few fish, it’s not over crowded, the fish are in good nick and it doesn’t break the bank. Ticks all my box’s, other peoples are different!

Fair play. It clearly pays off in terms of results and getting to know the venue.
