SENSAS CHALLENGE RIVER/CANAL
Today at 11:24am the new trail series got on the way yesterday with a massive thumbs up from all that took part, not only did the anglers have a choice of fishing the canal or river they also had short walks good parking and exceptional fishing the anglers few that had there doubts defiantly had there eye’s opened .this competition was always going to be different to the run of the mill team matches and with the next match this week has already created lots more interest ,while this is only a trail any team can enter as there are no prizes for the teams this year it was still one to win.
it was great to see some top anglers taking part and i’m sure this competition has a great future remember it was a last minute idea next year with proper dates and advertising its sure to take off
thanks to the boat pub who has now started serving full English breakfast although he did sell out this week
six teams took part 4 individuals so it was nice to see 40 anglers back on the canal and river banks
the big surprise was how well it fished, sutton[the river section] had just had some extra water through it but this can mean it could fish brilliant or it can be hard as nails and you guest right we missed the bream feast by days the river still fished fair some choosing to fish feeder others took the big fish approach and many target the small fish on G/B and pinkies.this method worked well with the first hour being a bite a chuck but soon dropped off giving time to look for bonus confidence is a wonderful thing and a lot of the bonus fish fell to those who waited the longest

mark Russel here with a 5lb 2oz tench along with a few bits managed second on the river [mark did spend a long time looking over his shoulder looking for dave petch after drawing next to dave for the last three matches ]
as i walked to my peg helping where i could Andy astel had drawn peg 48 and i just said they do catch a few tench off here at the weigh in Andy stood tall as he weighed two in for 7lb13oz third was Pete marlow this time Pete had fished for bits and waited until the last 10minute before trying for the big fish and was rewarded with a trench for a total of 7lb 6oz the best roach weight was our new signing Mark godfrey with 6lb of red-fins

e river did look good and ant king fished for perch most of the day and only winning his section

ant king 6lb 9oz
i thought i’d got at least 4lb but weighed a 3lb 12oz of roach i couldn’t believe it
but i still won my mars bar off rob parker
to my left Adam nurse had fished a feeder for a good part of the match and weighed a interesting 5lb 13oz of perch
next to Adam was ever reliable bicko again as hard as it was bicko caught the species that fed at different times
roach, bleak, perch and the odd bottle top

on the whole a great day and very close finish for the teams on the river section
can’t wait for next week
