Whats the tactics on his place , long time since i’ve fished a proper river and quite fancy focusing on the tip. What rods and weight feeders will I need do I need to fish mid river or across, what baits and fish can I expect.
Fishing pegs 20- 35 so peg by peg lowdown would be good. Trawled the web so know local results but just though I’d ask on here also.

I am assuming you are asking about pegs 20 to 35 in the weir field at the top end of the dyke.
These pegs have had a lot of match fishing pressure this summer and it is beginning to tell.
If you have an angler on every peg you are going to struggle – the opens fish even pegs only.
The first piece of advice is do not draw peg 20 – unless the river is about 5 feet up, then fish in the big slack in front of you for skimmers.
Pegs 22 through to 32 were consistent skimmer pegs earlier in the season when there was colour and a couple of foot on – peg 24 on the bend can be very good.(These are the pegs Clive Fletcher caught bream and quality roach on pellet). But the skimmers are not showing now it has gone clear. Last open = a framing 9lb from 22, 2 chub acorss plus 6lb small roach on wag and mag, and there was an 11lb of quality roach to pole fished hemp and tare from peg 30..
I would not want to be 31 to 35 but again good skimmer weights came from here earlier with 32 framing a few times.
In summary if there is flow and colour 22 to 32 can throw up good skimmer weights, chop worm and caster feeders being the standard aproach from the middle of the river to well over, if it low and clear then there are some roach (hemp has not really featured this season) to be had but you will struggle with an angler on every peg. I would not consider barbel although I have been smashed by one on the bite on skimmer gear at peg 20.
Hope that helps – good luck

Thanks mate as most of our club tend to just fish commies I would imagine there will only be 8-9 fish so at least we should have a little room . Thanks for the pointers on the pegs etc
