          Yeah I remember this.

Someone a while back uploaded onto Youtube one complete series of Hooked International (which I recall being shown then on BBC2?),where 3 home internationals were pitted against two teams of 3 internationals from Europe. so one week you had say 2 English anglers and 1 Irish lad against 3 French anglers and 3 Belgians with the winning two (individuals) going through to the final.

There was some top names of the day competing. Mostly it was fished on Lake Skanderborg in Denmark.

I remember my dad and I sitting glued to the box watching it. Apart from the bit where everyweek they had some noddy ‘celeb’ of the day whom went fishing a bit doing a stint with one of the presenters, probably to keep the mind numb tv audiances happy in amongst the main event which was the fishing match.

The series hooked of which you mention was a precursor to this and was fished in the UK only if I recall correctly. Allan Haines from Peterborough won it once. I think the hooked series were more ‘very’ early 80’s than late 70’s with the last hooked international being around 1985? I do believe they planned another in 1986 but the plug was pulled on it.

Have a hunt around Youtube I’m sure you’ll come across it like I did and ended up watching the whole 3 hours of it 6x 30min episodes with a big grin on me moosh instead of doing any work that afternoon.
