        Hi,

I have been out of fishing for a good few years but I am moving to this area I will be lucky enough to have a stretch of the river that I can call my own ( once my property purchase goes threw) after I am settled I woukd like to unwide all the stress of moving by fishing, so I was after any tips, rigs I could use, bait ect as much info and you can give me will help…. I know its getting colder now but any pike around there?

If you need the exact location its on the bank with the bridge to your left facing the cottage , it will be the ‘swim’ next to the jetty walking away from the bridge.

I did ask the current owner but he had not fished it in many years.

Looking forward to hearing from you

        Regards carl

The pike fishing is normally very good at this time of year between and around the new and old tatts bridge but for this stretch you will need a day or season ticket, its a boston book i think.

Thanks for the replys…. Sounds like I will need to be baiting up alot to try and draw the fish in/back!

I am very lucky in the fact that the house comes with fishing and mooring rights, I might even plant some plants around to hopefully encourage them back!

              Thanks again carl

Ps I will update once I have started fishing!

The Witham is not on a Boston book any more as the Witham & Joint AF has folded. Most of the roadside between Kirkstead and Chapel Hill is now classed as free fishing. Bardney to peg 50 on the pound length has been acquired by the Kings Arms pub at Kirkstead. Day tickets £3.50 on the bank, or season i think is £20. There are various sections which are now private and these are clearly marked. Such as Schoolhouse, The Chicken Run, Holly Farm etc

This is all unrelevant at the moment as the river is a complete waste of time as it hasn’t fished for 3 years now. The previously fantastic winter fishing has been diabolical as the vast shoals of roach which used to take up residence at Kirkstead and Tattershall over winter have completely dispppeared. There was a match on the Pound length this Wednesday and 3 anglers caught a grand total of 1 bream and 2 small roach between them.

Its my favourite river and I have hung on to the distant hope that the great days of the 90’s would return but I have now given up all hope of this happening.

Wow fishphone, that sounds so depressing, can you advise any thing I can do on my little patch that would encourage the fish back?
