I suffered from the one bite syndrome myself this weekend on a silver fish only match at Suffolk Water Park. On the feeder I had one pull from a 7ounce perch. That put me 2nd in an 8 peg section but unfortunately the sections had been reduced from 3 to 2 as there were only 24 fishing and were 12 pegs each. My section went into the part of the lake where there were some fish feeding. I had blanks both sides of me and I think apart from a pound perch there were only a couple of pairs of eyes caught from peg 1 to peg 8. The lad on my left fished bloodworm and joker but still never had a bite. Steve Clark won the section at the far end, peg 12, with 10lb odd of roach mostly on caster.
The other section fished well with two 14lb weights of skimmers and 3rd was 11lb of skimmers with another 10lb weight of roach backing that up and all were catching. Interestingly, the part of the lake I fished had been clear of ice all week whereas the other part of the lake had quite a thick covering. Was that the reason? The previous week I had drawn the other part of the lake and whilst we had a few fish the part I was on this week had fished far better.
