        A Sad Day for Angling.
After the terrible news that Don Slaymaker has lost his fight with cancer, everyone at Bait-Tech would like to pay tribute to a man regarded by many as one of the very best of his generation. Don was truly loved and a great character and ambassador for the sport. He will be sorely missed.
Peter Clapperton, Owner and current MD at Bait-Tech commented:
‘A truly nice man who was genuine and funny, great company and a fantastic angler. His passing makes me very sad. One of the greatest match anglers of our time!’

RIP, one of the early angling “names” I can recall. I used to have some of his floats. Correct me if I am wrong but did he used to fish wagglers at distance on the Trent when everyone else ran a stick off the rod end?

Someone I knew came off the bank at Burton Joyce circa 1980 with the comment ”Don Slaymaker has won it today off the next peg fishing a stick float down the middle – I can’t even do that!”
