TF_DodgeOkey dokey !
Lets see if we can have some fun and WINNERS from this years festival. Im off work all next and was going to Cheltenham next wednesday but have had to cancel ! Anyway nevermind bookies and pub it will be for the week.
This years festival looks to be difficult to say the least but there is an abundance of top class horses at big prices to be found ………. anyone have any fancies or tips to share ?
I will get the ball rolling with a highly rated hurdler who loves the Cheltenham track , Cotton Mill is entered for two races , will be interesting which race is does eventually target .

TF_caster robParticipantWeather looks like it’s not going to be helpful.
Rain on the way after nearly three weeks of dry weather and chance of turning much colder next week.
As things stand at the minute Godsmejudge looks worth a decent E/W in the first on Wednesday. It’s a 4m chase and he’s the sort who’ll be staying on up the hill (subject to jumping safely) at the end of a gruelling race.
Good luck Dodge, and everyone else.

TF_kev34Fatcatinthehat for me…
Watched it tip up at the last at punchestown in december when 10 lengths infront(ruby was on it)..
Then it demolished an ordinary bunch at leopardstown in january, looks a very exciting prospect for mullins and rated 92 on the flat, mullins hasnt decided between the Fred winter 12/1(ive had 20s)or the triumph(25/1) yet .
Cant get away from Albertas run in the ryanair at 16/1 e/w either, think it may get the good ground it wants.Sir des champs is a proper proper battler and i think this will be my proper bet of the meeting..

06/03/2013 at 7:51 pm #165476
TF_caster robParticipantGoing should be G/S or better now.
No chance of watering next week – because the frost covers will probably be on!

TF_KatarinoWaiting for final decs, frankly Gordon Elliot and others are a PITA declaring everything for everything but at the moment………………
the two that jump out in the Handicaps are:
Loch Ba in the 3rd Race on Tuesday looks to have been laid out and fits the profiles in every way. Also with a real gambling trainer now rather that dear old Hen. Channon liked a punt back in the day when he was training jumpers and Lorna was riding and I don’t suppose he’s changed.
The other one is Barbatos in the Coral Cup on Wednesday, every horse he beat last season came out and won next time out. The only two that finished in front of him were Fingal Bay and Simonsig, 2 of the very best of last year’s novices. Ran a blinder in his comeback race over 2 miles (too short for him to have a chance of winning) and looks a snip off the handicap mark he’s on. Has good form over course and distance as well. There may be one or two others in the race but a decent bet at 16-1.

TF_caster robParticipantProbably best to keep all Cheltenham posts on this one thread.
Be interesting to see how the ground rides following Friday’s heavy rain – more than I expected and looks like coming up soft. Good for the water table – apparently.
Re: first race Tues, I’m in the Melodic Rendezvous camp, his form and attitude are virtually faultless although I expect Puffin Billy to finish closer to him this time.
Favourite’s a ridiculous price and may go the way of other “good things”.
-
10/03/2013 at 10:46 pm #165572
TF_KatarinoClaisse is sayin Soft for the whole week but we’ve heard that one before ;). I don’t think it’ll get any better than G/S and that’ll do. The fear is always a quick dry out after a wet winter and all the form goes out of the Window.
We should do a little fun tipping league though. At the course a group of us all chuck a tenner in each day and pick one horse in each race. 3 points for a win, 2 for a second and 1 for a third. Now obviously we can’t have the pool but for a bit of fun?

TF_caster robParticipantJust fantastic to see a horse like Sprinter Sacre, we’re really being spoilt lately.
Last year before his Arkle win I posted that I thought he could be exceptional, I may have to revise that. I love the ones like him and Frankel that can put the race to bed with their supreme cruising speed and the challengers just fall away.
-
13/03/2013 at 7:27 pm #165657
TF_DodgeAgree with everything said about Sprinter Sacre , he is pure class and a joy to watch and best of all still a young superstar ! Had him and Pont Alexandre in a get out of jail banker double , oops ! the later hugely dissapointing to say the very least !
Paul Nicholls horses dont seem right at all ?
Lastly the Mullins / Ruby combo struck again in the last race (bumper) at a huge 25/1 !
When will i learn ? 😮 😀
-
13/03/2013 at 8:04 pm #165660
TF_KatarinoThe crowd reaction said it all, not many had backed him at 1-4 but still cheered him home. Gutted to find out afterwards there was 9-4 available Sprinter Sacre to win by more than 15l. I think it could have been 30 if he’d wanted.

TF_caster robParticipantToo many “filler” low grade handicaps now, just to eke the meeting out to four days in my opinion.
It was better when there were just the three days because I don’t think there are enough top quality staying hurdlers to justify a championship race and novice handicaps are never top class by definition.Having trawled tomorrows cards I’ll go with:
Texas Jack
Bakbenscher
First Lieutenant
Smad Place
Kapga De Cerisy
Prince of Pirates

Grim.

14/03/2013 at 8:11 pm #165639
TF_DodgeDeffo quite a few horses hating the ground and not travelling well through it , Ted Walsh says a good horse can race on anything ?
Dynaste ran a great race and was unlucky to find one a bit better on the day. Cue Card was magnificent and ran a class field into submission.
Jeez i WISH i was on the 50/1 shot that scooted up 😮 😀 (in my dreams lol)Anyway ……. Fridays I Need Em All To Win Selections 😮 😀

All my choices today liked a bit of cut, yet they were all outpaced and staying on at the finish,Few showers forecast overnight so it’ll probably be heavy!

TF_KatarinoSorry lads been having trouble with the connection and having to do this on the blackberry. Had a good day, wiped ot the losses from yesterday and weds and then some. Have to say the County was highlight, a real Tony Martin lay out, didn’t actually bet in Foxhunters but felt so sorry for the girl. I’ll post final scores on doors tomorrow.

TF_KatarinoJust watched the replay of the County (Ted Veale), following a great ride on Our Connor in the Triumph the lad is going to be a Star. At the time it wasn’t obvious but to take a pull like that, tuck in and wait on the run to the last really takes some bottle. 10/10…………………
