2. Dean Weston (Packington) 17 -14
3. Suzy Smith (Kobra Feeders) 4 -10MOLANDS The artic like weather saw sport dip again towards the weekend with water temperatures around the 3o. C. This has made for patchy fishing with the fish tight in certain areas with pegs 4 – 12, 25 – 27, 43 – 49 the most consistent pegs. F1’s, roach and skimmers providing the main action but also tench are starting to show better with fish to 4lb featuring in nets. Pole fished caster or pellet at 11 – 12 metres is the top tactic with pellet feeder best alternative.
GEARYS Although weights have been low the fishing has been fair with catches of skimmers and roach in nets to over 20lb. Pole fished maggot, pinkies or pellet fished over ground bait is the best approach to get bits. A few carp showing on certain pegs with corn accounting for fish in the 2 – 4lb range. Best pegs for skimmers are along the high bank from 1 – 12 and 17 – 20, carp are showing on 1, 15, 23, 28, 29 and 41.
LITTLE GEARYS Fished very well in the early part of the week with catches to nearly 50lb in matches and lots of fish being caught all around the pool. Pole fished pellet fished from six metres out to 13metres was the best tactic. A small method or pellet feeder also was working well with bread or polony the best hook baits. The best pegs have been 11 – 21 and 27 – 29.
GRATUITIES Fished a lot harder with the carp switching off with the cold weather. Skimmers, roach and a few tench have made up the better catches on pole and caster or maggot. Best pegs 1, 8 – 11 and 15.
WILLOW Skimmers and F1’s have been showing well despite the very cold temperatures. Waggler out to the island with punched bread or jellied pellet has worked well along with long pole and pellet. Best pegs 1 – 6.
ANNIVERSARIES The early pegs from 1 – 6 have provided the better catches but the pool has gone very clear and is hard at the moment. There have been double figure nets of skimmers and roach fishing to caster best.
