I have used but but prefer the smoothness of the pulla bung. The side puller seems to damage the elastic a lot more. I believe it is the angle on the elastic with a side puller that does the damage. No doubt others will disagree. They are commercially produced side pullers not a home made job!

The side pullers are neater without a doubt though which is why I tried them but I went back to pulla bungs.

By the way you are wrong about puller bungs not working on deep water rigs. Prestons have recently produced one but I haven’t tried it myself. see link :-

I recommend changing to the Trevor Jeans side puller PTFE internals a lot smoother, I’ve not had a problem since changing.

when i tried light elastic like nr 3´s i have had problem with side pullerkits as the elastic get stuck on the walls of the topkit. But with ticker elastic and hollows i got no problem at all.

I think it depends on the waters you are likely to fish as well. If any are deep you may be landing fish on a top 4 which means only a side puller is any use.

I purchased 3 milo top two stripper kits with side slots, within 2 months i had the elastic snap at the bung on 2 of the top 2’s using 13h hollow.
I have never had this happen using an end puller bung.
I have now put end puller bungs in these sections and have not had a problem since

There is a apparatus available that goes up the back of your no 4 and attaches to your topkit pull bung so you have a top 4 pullakit
