Report on Acorns Hospice Charity Open Arrow Valley Lake 29.6.13
Match organiser Gary Kirkham managed to get over 40 anglers on to the lake to support this very worthwhile charity and a sum of £200 was raised, thanks to all who took part.
Some good bags of bream were taken from all areas of the lake with Shakespeare Superteam man Paul Bick leading the way with a brilliant catch of over 61lb. Paul took fish on both swimfeeder and pole tactics with mainly worm hook bait and had bream to over 4lb from peg 68 on the bluebell bank of the lake.
Over on the playground side venue regular Dave Boyle took full advantage of his good fortune in drawing end peg 70 for the second consecutive match claiming second place with another excellent catch of over 59lb of bream, Dave used method feeder tactics with mainly boilies as his choice of hook bait.
Well known local angler Jon Newton (Smithy’s) usually does well when he fishes the lake and kept up his good form taking third place with a pole caught bag of 41lb 13 oz of skimmers from peg 58, just two ounces more than Pete Bailey who, fishing his fist match on the lake, had an enjoyable day also taking skimmers on the long pole for fourth spot from peg 16 on the Shakespeare bank.
