Evesham Junior & Intermediate Championship
Last Saturday saw the River Avon host the Evesham Junior and Veterans Championship.
Matrix generously supported the match with fantastic tackle prizes and DHP provided goody bags that all anglers received. The winner of each category also qualified for the prestigious Shakespeare Championship, the first, and richest match of the Evesham Festival weekend.
There was a good turnout of 41 young boys and girls from all over the country.
The kids had a good days fishing, pitting their many and varied skills against the mighty River Avon. Plenty of fish were caught, and the youngsters gained some valuable experience.
Top Junior on the day was local Joe Skinner of Evesham and District Angling Association. Joe fished peg one, and kept fish coming regularly through the day. Feeding hempseed and maggots on the pole at 12 meters, Joe caught roach and hybrids to put a creditable 8lb 15oz on the scales.
The Intermediate winner was Tom Potter fishing for “Pride of Derby,” Tom fished peg 31 and managed to catch and land an 11lb barbel to take victory with 11lb 13oz.
