I realise that this has been done in the past and I have read a few threads both on here and elsewhere. What I HAVE read is leading my towards a barrow/platform, but I am open to all ideas. Up to now I have just carried my gear but over the years boxes have got bigger and the accompanying junk (Vitally essential tackle) has expanded out of all proportion. This, combined with advancing age means that the days of me legging it a mile down the canal or river bank in order to maximise the time I have to set up are just about gone!

As I fish both natural and commercial venues I am, as I said leaning towards a barrow/platform. My current box is a Fox MSB1 and the barrows I’m considering are the largest Penrose or the middle sized Rigger. The only one I’ve seen “in the flesh” so to speak is the LARGEST Rigger which is an absolute beast and MAY be too big?

        All suggestions gratefully received.

I’ve got the biggest rigger and wouldn’t be without it, but it only JUST lays flat in the back of my vectra.

Another vote for the rigger, solid as a rock, can fully load and still push easy, the only thing I would have preferred is smaller mesh for when used as a massive side tray as bits drop through, but apart from that – top notch!

Thanks for the replies chaps. Good point about the size, I’ve got a feeling that the boot of my 307 may be smaller than my old Astra. Have to check! I see on the Penrose the wheel position can be adjusted to give a “lighter” ride! Is this a worthwhile feature? Is the Rigger manageable enough as it is? Just a thought, when using the Rigger as a platform, do you always use all 6 legs and are they easy enough to get level? Any constructive comments greatly appreciated.
