        Fish week 884 (season 42,314) Returns 292 (9,822) Rod average 3.02 (4.3)
Anglers have enjoyed an excellent week at Rutland Water with good numbers of fish being caught, amongst them some notable specimen Browns and Rainbows. Four Browns have exceeded 6lb. The best Brown of the week weighed 6lb 1½oz and was taken from a boat in Manton Bay by Tony Storey of Nottingham. The George Moore Memorial match fished on Saturday yielded some good specimens with John Hardy taking the best Rainbow of the week at 5lb 10¼oz and Roy Bartram of Edith Weston weighing in a Brown of 6lb which was the best fish on the day.

Boat anglers have caught many fish in a lot of areas including the bottom of both arms, fishing lodge frontage, the main basin etc. However, the bank anglers are finally getting amongst the fish with East Creek to the Lodge, Normanton, Whitwell Creek, the Dam and the Peninsula all producing fish. Bank anglers caught two Browns over 6lb along with quality Rainbows. Methods have again varied for boat and bank anglers ranging from fry patterns including minkies and floating fry, to nymphs, dries and various tube flies.

Tuesday 29 October is the final day to take a Brown, as from Wednesday 30 October any Browns caught must be returned alive as quickly as possible. The 1 November marks the start of Winter fishing restrictions with no boats past the sailing limits to the nature reserves on either arm of the reservoir. Bank angling restrictions also apply with no bank fishing on the North Arm from the transformer all the way round to Dickensons Bay. Whilst on the South Arm no bank angling is permitted from the Sailing Club all the way round to the Old Hall Point.

        Fish week 97 (season 8,778) Returns 30 (1,877) Rod average 3.2 (4.6)
Despite the challenging conditions at Ravensthopre the rod average is 3.2 with fish being caught around the abundant weedbeds. The best tactics have been lures fished close to the margins around the weed with minkies, cats whiskers and Pitsford Pea proving to be the most effective flies.

It is still possible to take fish on dries on the top from a drifting boat, particularly at the Coton End on mild calmer days. Black or claret hopper or Bob’s Bits are best. Mr Hopkins and Mr Painter were fishing at the beginning of the week on a three day holiday package and managed to catch some lovely fish around the Domes area.

The bank continues to be hard with the Dam producing most fish to a few committed bank anglers.
