Has the Matchman of the year lost some of it’s sparkle? Now that it’s been taken over by Preston, they are allowing 30 peggers to count (a move to give Southerners a chance? 🙂 ) and also allowing rover’s to count?? Having said that, still some achievement to win it.

Adapting to suit a changing market place is probably a good thing, even though people generally don’t like change. Hardly the same thing, but an example…. I remember when I changed the old design of Total-Fishing.com I had emails to say that I had ‘ruined’ the site and that people would ‘never used it again’. In reality the traffic levels shot up and they are running at record levels this year by some distance.

Yes, I think I emailed you at the time, to tell you what a good move you’d made. 😀

…..recently hear there were record levels of bushmen traversing the Kalahari desert. 😀

The only people capable of winning the title are those willing to travel and commit to such a degree it sifts out the elite…….ultimately that’s what you got and what the competition represents.

The whole ethos of lowering the numbers cheapens it IMO, it’s not about increasing numbers, it should be about the achievement it represents which will be lost to a great degree.
