          It’s a design feature.

Everything becomes ‘stiff’ when you put the bale arm over to cast.

It meant to stop the handle turning or the bale arm inadvertently flip back over when you cast.

I had a shocker of a match with three crack offs using a pair of other reels last summer. The bale arm flipped over causing crack offs when I went for a big chuck with 3oz.

Since I changed, not a problem

          Awesome reels 🙂

As above. They are designed so the bail arm should be closed by hand not by turning the handle.
            Looking at getting some myself.

Thanks guys! Didn’t know if I got a dodgy one! I have bought it for my dad Christmas present. I have the old ones and tempted to treat myself just for the new line clip alone
