Fish week 460(season 20,023) Returns 190 (4,496) Rod average 2.42 (4.45)
There are a tremendous number of fish on the surface in many areas of the reservoir. However, the fishing has been both testing and frustrating at times with fish moving through the surface feeding mainly on the prolific hatches of this year’s pin fry, and to a lesser extent on corixa and damsel nymphs. The best fish of the week was a 5lb 14oz Rainbow taken by Mr K Webb. Season ticket holder Keith Jones had another specimen Brown weighing in at 4lb 14½oz, that was caught in last week’s Tuesday Night Boat League Match.
Quickly presented dries and nymphs into the path of the fish accounted for some good quality fish that seemed to be swimming around in the top six inches of the reservoir. Most were Rainbows in the 3-5lb bracket in areas such as Lax Hill, Cattle Trough Bay and Browns Island in the South Arm. Some anglers found fish in the middle of the South Arm, Inmans Spinney and Spud Bay.
The stocking of another 3,000 Rainbows last Thursday and Friday had little effect on the fishing, but took the total stocked for the season to 52,000.
Bank anglers have had sport off the Green Bank and the Dam, as previously mentioned there was plenty of fish movement in lots of areas. A good tip is to keep on the move looking for fish movement, rather than staying in one spot.
The aerators have now been switched on and there is a steady number of fish coming off them. Albeit these are stock fish, with one or two silvered up fish amongst them.

Fish week 432(season 17,313) Returns 164(3,037) Rod average 2.6 (5.7)
The fishing at Grafham has been challenging this week with the bank anglers having the best of the sport. Bank anglers are finding that the South end of the Dam has given the most consistent catch rates on floating lines with GRHE, diawl bachs, black or brown buzzers and PTN’s fished close to margins. Also Deep Water Point, G Buoy and Hill Farm have produced some good sport with damsel nymphs giving the best catch rates.Boat anglers have once again found the fishing quite challenging over the past week but there have been many catches mainly on midge tip lines with tequila blobs and boobies, cormorants, crunchers, diawl bachs, brown buzzers, hoppers, Bob’s Bits and flash back nymphs. The best areas for the boat anglers over the past week have been South Dam, G,K,P and B Buoys, Valley Creek and Central Drifts. There have been some quality trout caught in Savages Creek.

Fish week 586(season 10,337) Returns 147 (1,431) Rod average 3.4(7.2)Anglers at Ravensthorpe have enjoyed great sport on the dry fly. Many anglers bagged large catches with dry fly and washing line tactics when conditions were right. Doug Whibley had fun at the start of the week boating 7 fish on claret klinkhammer at the Coton End. Other anglers have fished this area and have caught well on pin fry patterns such as silver Invicta.
David Brady made the washing line method work for him by pulling the diawl bachs and accounting for 21 fish to the boat. Frazer Duffy had a good result on the dries on Friday, taking 25 fish. Returning on Saturday Frazer and his son caught well again, mostly on claret hoppers.
Mick Griffin and Graham Smith were on form on Saturday with Mick fishing small dries and Graham fishing diawl bachs, the pair boated 19 fish in the morning. Fish have been coming to dries fished blind.
The Dam has fished well at times through the week with Jim Ferguson accounting for some very nice fish on sedge patterns. Floating fry and pin fry patterns are also worth a try along the Dam. Bob Draper had a rude wake up call from a 12lb plus Common Carp which took a liking to his diawl bach and rocketed 50 yards from the Dam.
