Fish week 486 (season 18,386) Returns 164 (3,485) Rod average 2.96 (5.27)
The fishing at Grafham Water has improved for both bank and boat anglers with a rod average of 2.96. The best bag of the week was taken by bank angler Nick Evans of Ramsey. Nick caught six trout for 22lb from the South Dam on a floating line with shrimp patterns. Nick’s best fish weighed 4lb 4oz.Bank anglers have enjoyed a good week’s fishing with the Dam again being the most productive area. G Buoy and Deep Water Point have also produced some good sport – mainly in the morning. The most productive method for bank anglers has again been floating lines with GRHE, diawl bachs, crunchers, shrimp patterns and damsel nymphs fished almost static.
Boat anglers have had a much better week with a number of areas on the reservoir starting to produce some good consistent fishing. The most productive boat areas have been G,M,J,F and I Buoys, Central Drifts, Valley Creek, Savages Creek and the lodge frontage. All of these areas have fished well at times with the best methods being floating – Di3 lines with red or yellow culls, crunchers, diawl bachs, tequila blobs, brown bob’s bits, hares ears, damsel nymphs and cormorants.

Snowbee Floating Line match 26 July.Pitsford Water
Fish week 199(season 8,154) Returns 96 (2,008) Rod average 2.0(4.0)
The fishing has continued to be quite challenging at Pitsford Water this week, but there are good catches to be had if the right tactics are employed. The best fish of the week was a lovely Brown Trout of 5lb 8oz caught by Nick Selt. The best boat area is the main bowl down to the Dam. Bank anglers should head for Rigbys, Holly Bush and Bog Bay.
Pat Flynn and Pete Webb have been successful again this week using midge tip or floating lines teamed with blobs and crunchers to tempt 16 fish to the boat.
In such warm water conditions you would expect the fish to be deep, but in contradiction to this anglers at Pitsford have been catching fish in the top three feet of water. This fact was brought home during last Tuesday’s Evening Boat League. Eleven anglers fished, several of them with lots of experience of fishing at Pitsford, but it was the two new anglers, Eddie White and Noel Ramsey who had the best catches on the night. Both caught and lost fish using a floating line and F.A.B., whilst their more experienced boat partners struggled.

Forthcoming events
Beginners courses: 19 & 26 July; 1,9 and 23 August and other dates throughout the season.Ravensthorpe Reservoir
Fish week 62 (season 10,501) Returns 54 (1,532) Rod average 1.1(6.8)
A testing week at Ravensthorpe, but anglers who found ‘the method’ enjoyed fantastic sport. The best fish this week fell to Ray Harnwell, a nice 8lb 7oz Rainbow which took Ray’s cruncher fished very slow. Gavin Layton had good sport on the dry fly, fishing hoppers. Gavin brought 10 fish to the boat on Saturday.
Frazer Duffy Junior and his dad have had some success fishing dries such as claret, black and brown hoppers with short casting loch style tactics often picking out the better fish.
The warmer water in the shallows has concentrated fish in the cooler, deeper water of the Main Basin and Boils area. Boats that have drifted these areas fishing either washing line tactics or Di5 sweep lines with a stripped retrieve have scored well.
The bank is still worth fishing with fish moving to shallow water early morning and after sunset. On overcast days anglers are catching from the bank throughout the day mainly on washing line with diawl bachs and crunchers.
Best Rainbow 8lb 7oz taken by Ray Harnwell.
Best Brown 3lb 8oz.
Best boat areas Main Basin, Boils.
Best bank areas Platforms 3-8, Dam.
Best methods See report.
Mid week boat winner Mr Leeson of Norwich.
Fish stocked 360.
