        August 18th – 24th

125 anglers caught 480 fish of which 342 were returned.
        44 fish over 3lb

        Best Fish
8lb 2oz Boris, Stanion, green body daddy, boat
5lb 3oz Trevor Partridge, Corby, boat
5lb 1oz Phil West, Nuneaton, cruncher
5lb 0oz Peter Wilson, Cambridge, daddy

        Best Areas
Bank – east arm, boat bay, dam(in a north wind)
Boat – most areas producing fish, generally the top of the wind best

        Best Patterns
Wet or dry daddy, red cruncher, red diawl bach, red apps, cats whisker, tequila fab

The cooler weather has really put the fish on the feed with a good week for both boat and bank anglers considering we are still in August.
On brighter days the boats have had the best sport with straight line nymphs working when no fish are rising. If the fish are on top, hoppers and daddies are catching well fished wet or dry. Otherwise the deadly method has been washing line with either a foam daddy or tequila fab on the point and cruncher/diawl bach on the droppers.
Lures have also taken fish, fritz damsel, cats whisker or black tadpole fished 3-4 foot down.

        Competitition News
Sunday August 24th Leicester Fly Fishers held their Presidents bank match.
        7 anglers caught 13 fish
It was a good win for Dave Roadley who included two fish of 3lb 13oz in his bag. Dave used a floater/washing line with either a damsel booby or tequila fab on the point and nymphs on the dropper along the brook side bank.
        1. Dave Roadley 6 fish 17lb 10oz
        2. Alastair Smith 3 fish 6lb 2oz
        3. Adam Gumby 3 fish 5lb 4oz

The Dave Hughes Memorial Fur & Feather will be held on Sunday November 9th.

Kieran Conlon from Cork lost a similar fish at the net with Denis in the Island Stream after about 6/7 minutes – he could even see the sea-lice on its back,
& lost another after about a minute on the Hut Pool on Upper Kilmurry. They saw at least half a dozen fish moving through.
