Match Report
Anglers arriving at the fishery were met with a cold, still and foggy morning, a lake that looked at least 18” down on level with clear water, and with pegs 1 to 18 allocated expected to struggle for bites.
There were, however, a few fish to be caught and although everyone had to work hard for their fish all managed to weigh in at the end of the match.
Paul Marriott (peg 6) started by casting a method feeder towards the island and was quickly rewarded with a carp. Several more followed in the first hour and he continued to add the occasional fish to the final whistle to finish with 46-05 for a convincing win. Dead red maggot proved the successful bait.
On peg 2 Dave McPate fished pole with red maggot on a size 20 hook to 3-00 line to land a 17-06 carp, another decent carp, a couple of chub and a few roach for 26-09 and second place.
Third place fell to Keith White (peg 18) who, because of the shallow and clear water, decided to fish straight bomb and pellet throughout. The result was a steady stream of chub and small carp throughout the match totaling 22-11.
