FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 1/2/15

Last week 50 rods caught 170 fish for an average of 3.40 fish per rod.

A very mixed week with high winds and low temperatures but all in all the fishing was very good.

The high bank and the road bank of Cocks Close have been the best areas with Lures fished on sinking lines or intermediate lines working best.

Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, big Damsels, Minkies, Fritz Lures and Appetizers have all caught a few fish this week.

The best fish of the week was a 12lb 8oz rainbow caught by Mr T Ali of Coventry who was fishing the bank of Cocks Close and this was the best of a five fish bag, all taken on Cats Whiskers. Dave Bratby of Birmingham fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught ten fish to 8lb using his special Damsel with an orange head. Jonathan Preston of Solihull caught seven from the bank of Cocks Close which all fell to a white Pea Head Lure fished on an intermediate line and his best was an 8lb rainbow.

On the members’ waters, Nick Howarth has been amongst the bigger fish with a 7lb rainbow the best of a seven fish catch whilst fishing from a boat on the Great Pool and these all came to a Cats Whisker fished on a floating line.
