        Rutland Water
        Fish week 129 (Season 28,528) Returns 93 (8,026) Rod average 1.38 (3.57)

Bank anglers have been out in steady numbers when the weather has permitted. Last Sunday a number of fish were caught close in off the Normanton bank from the Church to Fantasy Island. Andy Mosely from Mansfield used dry fly to good effect with three fish by early afternoon. There were a lot of fish on the move that day and Andy missed a few in the process.

Dries, nymphs and fry patterns have accounted for good conditioned Rainbows. Some fish were feeding in less than two feet of water amongst the dying weedbeds and shoreline.

Al Owen guided two customers on Friday with five Rainbows coming to their boat. Other boat anglers have had a less pleasant time with the recent variable weather conditions which have included fog, heavy rain and strong winds.

Out of season Browns are showing in many areas, any caught must be returned to the water as soon as possible.

Bank anglers should avoid wading as fish are very close in to the shore in a lot of areas. Anglers fishing the rudder have had a few fish. Fry are feeding in the old weedbeds scattered around the shoreline. Grebes and Cormorants are feeding heavily on fry and are a sure indicator that trout will not be far away.

The Fur and Feather match will be fished on Sunday 6 December and bookings are being taken. Around 15 boats will be available in December and January. Please note during December and January boats will not be available on Mondays or Tuesdays.

        Information for all anglers
An invasive species of shrimp (Dikerogammarus villosus), commonly known as DV, has been found at Pitsford Water. The presence of this species in the water does not pose any threat to human health. Water from the reservoir is treated to a very high standard before being supplied to local homes for drinking. It is important that anglers continue to follow the Check, Clean, Dry procedures in place for the preservation of our environment and sport.
