This could include the 5 and 6 sections as well but my question is, is there any difference between number 4s from one pole to the other in respect of strength, carbon content etc particularly in the higher end poles.
I have a Spectron, Excellor and Whisker all terrain and while these are not top end, the same question applies.

I’m pretty sure that the number 3 section on my Tricast poles have thicker carbon. That is the main section after all.

Thanks Peter, I should have been more specific as my question really is about the Daiwa sections but your response is appreciated.
This subject has probably been done to death in the past but I know some of the posters on here are quite knowledgable about this type of thing and I’m hoping someone can enlighten me.

            Best regards

I have the Spectron Competition (still think this is the best pole Daiwa have produced), the Tourny Pro and the Spectron Power and the only time I’m carefull with which No4 I use is if I’m using elastics over 16 rating in which case I use the No4 of the pro.

You will not notice when fishing any real difference in the No4’s.

A tackle dealer told me that the number 4 sections (red triangle) on a tournament pro weigh exactly the same as the generic number 4, take from that what you will.
