For the first time, anglers at Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage will be able to catch a 33lb mirror carp, after two new carp were introduced to the lake last month.
Welwyn Garden City Angling Club, who manages the fishing at Fairlands Valley Park, held a memorial carp fishing match earlier this year in memory of a former fisherman and frequent visitor to the lakes, Terry Lauezzari. Almost £3,000 was raised in Terry’s memory, with the money going towards the two carp, Terri weighing 33lb 8oz, and Amy weighing 18lb 8oz.
Councillor Howard Burrell, Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport said, “Fairlands Valley Park is already a main attraction for those looking to fish in the area, and with the new additions of Terri and Amy, I’m sure we’ll see more fishing enthusiasts visiting the lake to catch the carp, especially as this is the first time that a 33lb carp will be on offer.”
