Just about exhausted my supplies of the PR28’s which Ive used for years and had a lot of confidence in for pretty much all of my summer carping.

Looking for an alternative pattern to replace all of my hooklength box with.

I’m thinking Fox Series 2 for lines up to 0.16 and maybe the X/Strong Series 2 for up to 0.21.

Anyone use these hooks and how strong are they?
Last thing I want is them straightening out on fish!!

        Also, any others recommended?

I have got a load of 175’s as well and used them through winter at Makins, as for some reason I managed to get more foul hookers out using em than normal (or was that just coincidence / confidence thing?)

Would you say these are strong enough for real baggin gear using 0.21 powerline?

Depends on what you call real bagging Andy, if your pulling them out of tree roots with tightened up laggy maybe not.

They are the only hook ive used in the summer (apart from hair rigging) for the last 3 years at Mallory, had loads of tons and fish to 18lb on them and never felt the need to go to anything heavier~clap ~clap

Take a look at the Maver MT3’s Andy, similar to PR28’s and about the same strength wise.
I switched to them last year and used them all through summer/autumn and only went to a lighter hook when winter arrived.

As above – I was told they were exactly the same hook. I can’t tell any different

To Answer the original question regarding the Fox 2s, the standard ones should be fine for up to 0.21. Although I’ve never gone that heavy, i do use them with total confidence on 0.17 Powerline (0.19 in normal lines) and have never had one straighten.

The heavy pattern will obviously be OK on 0.21, but I don’t see the need for them as I don’t fish snagpits very often.

Tubertini 175’s, you could tow your car with them.

I happily use the standard Fox Series 2’s on .18 line all summer with no problems!

I use the Fox, normally a 20 (like a 16) standard for 0.18mm, sometimes 0.20mm on my light rigs, XS for 0.20 or 0.22mm. I like them but have had the odd standard 1 snap!
