Need a new barrow gentlemen. What do I get? I’m only 31 so I’m not going to spend £250 on an electric thing when I’m perfectly fit and able. What do you guys use and why? Ta.

Don’t buy a Fox barrow – monkey metal. Try and find a secondhand Penrose or look at the new Rigger I think it’s called.

Really? I’m surprised. I thought that for 170 odd quid you’d get a decent barrow! I’ll have a look at some others then.

I’ve got a Fox MSB box. Is that going to fit on the Preston barrow cos I know a lot of them are customised to their boxes.

when it comes to the fo barrows, think it must depend on how recently you bought one. mine is 3 years old now, give or take, and not had one problem with it. it’s solid as a rock, takes my rive and a full aspire carryall with ease, and doesn’t shift and inch with my rive and me on top.

i wouldn’t pay 170 for it though, got mine when they were about 125. for the money, of the current crop, the daiwa is the cheapest but dunno how it stands up as don’t know anyone wth one. The new rigger thingy looks good though, except the leg wheels which look like they stick out loads and loads.

If it’s just for transporting, not for the platform, get a space station if it fits your box as they take up less room.

before today i would’ve said spaceshuttle aswell that was before the wheel decided to snap off the axle im surprised it never happened before coz the whole wheel is made of plastic cheap and nasty. i wouldnt have minded if the barrow was old and battered but it was only the 5th time i have used itand it collapsed going along a flat grass field not a happy bunny and my tackle dealer will know it tomorrow

I am amazed they are still selling space shuttles with the plastic connector to the axle. Mine snapped 1st time I used it, 3 years ago, PI replaced it in 3 days with metal equivilant. I would have thought they would have stopped selling the plastic version.
Since I have got the metal one no more issues~clap

The plastic axle version is the MKI version.

Preston Innovations then launched a MKII version (dark grey in colour rather than silver) whch has metal tubular axle.

Your local tackle shop should replace the plastic MKI axle for the later version at no cost.

                          Hope this helps.

If it’s just a trolley you need, get a MKII shuttle!

I’ve got the Daiwa barrow and as a barrow it’s excellent. However i’m not convinced about the leg strength even after a year of use with no mishaps. Did bend a leg accidentally whilst pushing the barrow and it seemed far too easy to bend it back so am now using my old steel legs from another platform. Tried it at full height in the garden the other day and it feels a lot more solid now.

james h i have got the mark 2 shuttle m8 the wheel is plastic but the axle and bearing are metal the whole wheel needs to be made out of metal as there is a lot of weight on the barrow when its got my spacestation, carryall, holdall, nets and groundbait bucket i cant see the point of making a sturdy barrow to then put crappy wheels on it

Used my preston shuttle about 10 times now and broke 2 wheels , both times at larford around
On the burr bank . Its a long walk back to the van and plenty of cursing going on .
Preston have replaced the wheel both times with no charge so not too bad. Like it has been said above
The plastic wheels are not strong enough and need a design change, if you get one of these buy a couple
Of spare wheels or get some different wheels fitted
