Hi, any info on whats working at Boddington at the mo would be appreiciated, also what feeder rod do you use at a venue such as Boddington? and in the winter what type of rod do you use for fishing the bomb?

        Cheers

        Chris.

          Hi Chris,

Seems recently the bomb close in on the PW lines has been doing well. Rods don’t need to be too heavy since you arent casting far – basically to the feed distance- around 25 yards. Any medium style feeder which copes with reel lines of 6-8 lb should be fine – the fish now go around 12 to the ton and can go like trains when they want to so something with a bit of backbone is advisable – the Drennan series 7s are pretty popular for this. As it gets colder the fish tend to move further our so you could be chucking past 80 yards to find them. This really needs a bit more beefier kit capable of hitting this – something like a medium/heavy 13 foot teamed with a large spool reel – personally I use the shimano beastmaster heavy and XSB for that. Seems like this season the bomb and PW have really scored and the method hasn’t been anywhere near as dominant as before – interesting to see what happens over the next few months.

Thanks for that, when you say a large spool reel are you talking 4000 or bigger? i take it when fishing the bomb in this way, the key is to constantly loosefeed 8mm pellets and if they come up in the water to switch to PW?

            Many thanks.

            Chris

like snooty says the carp dont fight very well.

in the summer i fish 11ft preston mini on the wag with a 3012tdr and 6lb sensor and have no probs.

on the bomb rod is a 10ft preston mini with a 3012tdr and 8lb sensor same agian with no probs and just done my pb with 300lb plus so there is no need to use big barble rods and thick line the harder you pull the more you loose simple.

Use a baitrunner, they dont run off and go mental when you get a bite, they just stop as there is little resistance. Was there last week, only a few pegs where the fish were short on the bomb the rest were caught on the method long.

                        Hi lads

I fished a 30 pegger there about three weeks ago. I finished 3rd with 318lb.

Most of my fish came to the bomb and 8mm pellet. Fished a 10ft Preston mini carp, tdr3012 with 6lb sensor to a 9lb bottom (heavy bottom to combat the strain on your hooklength running over the rim of your landing net). Pellet Wag rod was set up exactly the same but with a Shakey Mach 3 rod but only took 3 fish on this.

                        Match was won with 570lb.!!!!

                        Enjoy.
