Bomb rod – under £100 – what you using

Well with the temperatures dropping I can see the bomb rod getting a airing and am looking for a new rod.

Don’t really want to spend more then £100, must be two piece (lazy and easy) and short handle, mainly for commercials but 30-35m chucks tops.

What are you using?
What length?
Whats good about it?

For around, or just over, 100 you can normally pick up a breastmaster commercial 9-11, the new forcemaster 10ft would also suit.

Or look at the garbolino ones, they are always well spoken of. Even the super g one wouldn’t be loads over 100.

For not much more than a £100 Tri Cast do a 9′ carp feeder rod probably perfect for what you want.

The Shakespeare Mach3 XT 10’6 feeder is absolutely spot on for the job, flawless action through the blank but capable of bomb / light method work.

Should be able to pick one up for £70 so well under your budget.

Garbolino 9′ Rocket Picker

Superb – bought it as I like a short rod to fish the bread on the river and I’d broken my old bomb rod pulling for a break from a snag.

I have used it everywhere, from catching dace from a small stream, Chub from snagpits, Carp on a small method feeder and straight lead.

It easily casts a small feeder 35 yards and it bends right through to the butt.

At £22 I may have to get another one, just in case they stop making them

Garbolino Rocket Picker. Agree with OldnBald great value also got the 10′ model. Both can handle up to doubles quite easily.

use a 10ft silstar diaflex had one since they first came out, bought another off ebay for £40.

Still cannot find anyrthing to beat them.

so a guy using a 9ft mach2 at docklow hammering carp to bouble figures rod performed superbly

Have a look at the shakey mack 2 10ft wand.£45 Got one last winter.Carried on using through the summer for the kind of chucks you mentioned two piece.
