TF_DabbsieUsed my new Z9 for the 1st time last weekend, Honestly its stiffer and ships better than my Airity did.

TF_Mick FordhamI’ve had my Z9 since the very first batch and has never let me down.
The Power Match Kits are great and you can now chose to have normal or the puller kit option when you buy the pole.
As has been said very stiff a joy to ship and I have never had a problem with sections coiming apart (as I did on other poles I’ve owned in the past).
I did break a No.7 section (the breakage was my own fault), ordered a new section on the monday and had the section by the Thursday.

TF_wildingukI love my 774, never let me down either and spares easy to get, top kits cheaper than the z9. Horse for courses really.
There’s also the new xl74, the 774 with slightly longer sections that might be worth trying.
I’ve not tried a z9 yet, so can’t compare. Best bet, get to a shop and try them all out. Try and work out which will best suit your fishing style. I fish mostly 7-13m for silverfish, the 774 suits my style. The mini 6/7 is a godsend, is like having a half butt for the lengths I fish.
Never once had sections come apart, and it comes with a great spares package.
But if you fish long, from what I;ve read on here, the z9 might well be a better pole.

Anonymouscant really compare as have never USED a z9 (all poles are good in the shop).i have a sensas 774 and its never let me down and am really impressed by it.try and have a go with someones on the bank and then decide which is the best pole for you.good luck with whatever you choose.

TF_p2hl_p2hlthe 774 is being replaced this year, where the z9 is only from last year…
that will influence resale value, and most likely spares…74XL however is new for 2011… take a look at that one…

TF_NathanWatsonHeard they’re both the same pole!!?? Where are you ordering the spare no. 7s etc from and how much was it? Also, do you think it feels heavier than the Airity? I have a Z9 and a Tournament Pro and think the Z9 is heavier but not had them side by side to be sure yet!

TF_joffmiesteri have a 774 top pole and the spares are not over priced so you concentrate more on your fishing, rather than wondering if you brake a section how long will it be before you can get a new one.and for me that counts for a lot as most poles nowadays have caught up with each other
i had a section broken by a jogger the other week and by friday i had a new one and it was a no8 section errrr -

TF_OmmadawnSold my Pro for the 774. Best pole I have ever had. Tried all the top models over several weeks and the 774 (not even on my shortlist) won by a long way. Picked it up and was truly gobsmacked by the lightness and balance. Lovely finish which glides nicely and one of the best spares packages around plus the joker card. Wouldn’t swap it for anything at the moment.
I’m sure the Browning pole is excellent too but I would be amazed if its as light as the 774.

Heard they break every time you try and slap rig or strike at short range for silvers?

TF_joffmiesternathan i’m sponsored by sensas i’ve helped loads of anglers which you could say is a part of the sponsorship i can only pass on advice its up to the individuals choice on what he picks the 774 was a long time coming and a few previous modals were not good enough but the 774 ticks all the right boxes now and the spare package is second to non in my eyes but like i say this is only my opinion matey

They only break when someone on the next peg leaves there net bag in the middle of the grass behind them in gale force winds…..
Seriously though make sure you check the actual length of these poles before deciding….

TF_NathanWatsonMeasured both of mine, Z9 was 15.7M with the no.2 cut back about 8 inch, long 4 and half butt or short 4 and full 17.5M extension. Think Pro was 15.9 with tip out, short 4 and 17.5M extension but joints come apart all the time! Z9 seems better in that respect but not had a big slapping day yet!

It’s still in the 2011 catalog, they’ve just added the xl74 too.

TF_wildingukSHould add, like alot of poles now (new maver ones i think inc), the 774 is only 13m with the number one in and the half butt, or the short 6/7 added.

AnonymousI use a 774,had it approx 12 months and before i bought it tried out a few other top end poles before deciding to go for the 774..I thought it was the stiffest most useable pole out of all of the ones i tried and most of all it suited me.
I had it up in the back garden before first use and if i can remember correctly with a 17.5 metre extention and the half butt added but with the No 1 taken out it measured roughly 16.75 metres long.
its an excellent pole at 16 metres and very stiff but at 13 metres i dont think you’ll find a better pole to fish with.
Spares package is also excellent with 10/11 top kits. -

AnonymousNot really Nathan when you consider that Sensas state that the half butt takes it up to the quoted lengths…3/4 of a metre short with the No 1 removed is pretty good in my book.

TF_NathanWatsonAnyone confirm if all Sensas and Z9 sections fit?
-
04/03/2011 at 10:27 pm #134294
TF_paulDI dont think anyone should be worried about the strenght of the Z9. Adam Richards has posted on here a few times about the stick hes given his Z9 & z7. Had mine for over a year and its survived some bad treatment including windy days and roller collapses that would have destroyed my old tourney, sensas and Maver.
Not sure about the weight question. The z9 feels about the same as my tourney to me (but the 9 is longer), but I think lighter poles must mean weaker poles which is u/s for the fishing most of us do these days.
I trod on 2 sections and got spares in 4 days and I sponsor myself ! extra kits ive bought have come quickly to. -
