I have two spectrons, one I use everyday and a brand new one never used.Is it worth selling these to upgrade to a z9 ( never seen one )or should I stick to what I have??

As you have built in spares for every section of pole then personally I would stick with what you have. 3 years ago that pole was the nuts, now it isn’t in tackle tart land – so what, it will still catch just as many fish.

depends on what you want to do, the speccy (IMO) is a brilliant silver fisht and fisht to 5lb pole where as the Z9 is a good allrounder and will handle double figure fish all day long.

I personally wouldn’t upgrade to a pole I’d never seen. I’d have a go of the z9 first. The Speccy is awesome but they are gettin old now, but their still up there with the best.

Speccy is a good pole, getting on a bit though, sell what you can whilst you can as one day it will be worth a lot less. Then forget the Z9 and buy airity.lol

Not sure why you want to upgrade to a pole you’ve never tried. It may not even be an upgrade, new isn’t always better.

I have a Speccy comp with loads of top 5’s for Holland. I wondered the same and had mine up against the Z9 over grass. Although I didn’t fish obviously there isn’t enough in it for me to change imo.

Thanks for the reply squatt, that is the sort of info I was hoping for – somebody who had both poles side by side. In answer to an earlier post,I would never upgrade to a pole I have not seen, but if opinion said it was worth it then I will make the effort to see one! ( no local stockists what so ever ).

By the way One Fish I don’t do much commercial fishing now, but , in the past I’ve fished Rolf’s, Alders and Boddingtons with my Speccy. If you treat it right it’s plenty strong enough and far more than just a silvers pole.

I think the orignal Spectron was the best pole diawa ever produced. They must have sold shit loads of them. Loved mine but replaced it with a Pro and was very disappointed.

i owned a spectron and z9 at the same time(no longer have spectron).spectrons not as strong, long, stiff,or as a good a finish as the z9 but the spectron is the best pole to hold i have ever had,but fishing with it was a little different.

I loved my Speccy but I also used to love my old wife until I updated to a newer version. ~clap
Poles have moved on a bit and the Spectron is now a bit old and primitive compared to the latest top-end poles – just like the Arity ! ~naughty
