computer help o/t

  lid/screen of laptop has come away from the bottom/keyboard.
  although it still works any movement and it switches of.
  wondering if i got a monitor will i be able to plug it in to one of the usb ports and carry on using it as a desk top?
  any ideas or suggestions will be welcome.
  
  just got a new seatbox so a new computer is not a real option especially as it still works.

  You will need to check if there is a vga out connection. If there is one it will have 15 pins and is usually coloured blue. To this you can connect the vga cable from an external monitor.

  steve, there is a 15 pinned socket that is blue and the holes are in 3 rows of 5 so i presume that is what you are referring to.
  can now start saving up.

  Yes thats the one. You just need a normal vga monitor cable to connect the laptop to a monitor. The vga cable will have a blue matching connector at each end, or the monitor will have a built in cable which you just connect to the laptop.
