meat masteri am writing this post because i am sick of people who rip other people off.
i fell victim on another site sent money two weeks later 10 pms later no tackle left feeling like a mug..
TIME FOR A RETHINK.
only buy goods off people who you no or who have sold tackle before and have good feed back a bit like fleebay.
what are your thoughts on how we can feel confident when sending our hard earned cash.
its a shame that a few idiots can spoil it for the vast majority of people on forums who are honest

TF_sharkIf you pay via Paypal you have a much better chance of getting your money back if no goods are received.
However IMO most lads on the forums are genuine and i have only ever had a problem once when an item was damaged during transit.
I now pay the extra for postal insurance when using Royal Mail. -

TF_Chris-turnerParticipantThe problem there is when do you start to trust someone . If he’s new to the site you wouldn’t trust thm at all but tht doesnt meen he’s not genuine does it
Total fishing could set up a sticky thread in the for sale section with peoples names who have bought and sold honestly , least it would be a start to stop this sort of thing becoming a lottery when buying stuff.
Sorry to hear bout your goods mate.

TF_dirkdiggleri think there should be a trusted list of people who can sell stuff,
minumum criteria should be someone having to have posted at least 50 to 100 posts on the site.
you could have a sticky feedback thread so you could see who your buying off too.
as has been said before if your not sure about someone don’t pay by anything other than paypal as you are a lot more likely to get your money back.
as is the norm in broken britain the few will spoil it for the many unfortunately ~think -

TF_PaddyI quite like the train of thought behind the sticky thread. I’ll have a chat with Geeps over the next couple of days, see what he thinks about it.
It does only take a few numpties for it all to go wrong, but a whole host of stuff has been traded over TF buys and sells without to much bother over the years since it went up.
Good food for thought though, good darts. -

TF_dirkdiggleryou could also link sales to your ebay feedback too (if you have any)
another thing i’d like to see moderated more aggressively is people ruining other peoples advertisement threads with silly offers and ” oh i can get those new for” etc etc.
shame on you ~naughty -

TF_PaddyDirk, there are not mods on full time mate, so it becomes difficult some times, whilst trying to read every thread is to time consuming/not possible.

TF_Nigel.Sorry you got done Meat Master, i hope you get it sorted.
I personally wont deal with anyone with a nick name, i have to have there real name, i wont even let anyone book on a match with out a real name, the amount i have had book on with nick names got ridiculous, and they let you down or double book.
I think all posters should have there real name available, and if your buying tackle of people with names like Carp Crusaider or Bream Basher then you haven’t a clue who your dealing with, eh Meat Masher! -

TF_scarfI agree with toplights – name and shame every time it happens. I don’t think it happens very often and I’ve always had excellent dealings with people on this site, but naming and shaming is a start. I also agree with Nigel that you need to know the name of the person you’re dealing with, unless it’s a face to face transaction.

TF_red_hydroI agree with Nigel, even better why can’t people complete there profiles to see who they are dealing with.
Also perhaps members should have to register a debit/credit card with the site to verify who they are.
I personally won’t deal with anyone whose name is not familair or who has just joined the site to flog stuff unless I can pick it up in person

meat masteri think you should have to give card details or a bank sort code acc numb
something so you can trace the people it would make the con artist think twice wouldnt it if they no you have there bank details.pass the details onto the police JOB DONE….
mayby thats the way forward….???
as stated its hard to get the site to do it because they dont have the time.
just to confirm i have only been done once and not from this site either i have benefited from buying second hand goods from tf as i said its just a very tiny handfull of people that would rip someone off.

TF_geepsterParticipantAll interesting thoughts and good feedback. I don’t think the credit card thing is a goer but we could have a rule that if you are selling on the site, you have to give your full (real) name and have posted at least 100x.
Then we would need to police it (and of course people could still set up a hotmail address in any name and get around it).
I also like the idea of a ‘trusted sellers’ sticky thread, but it does need you guys to let US know who the trusted sellers are….

TF_PaddyI would try the “Trusted Seller Sticky Thread, Complete with Full Name” as a starter i think.

good idea i’d certainly think about buying more off here instead of ebay then.
maybe another rule i’ve seen on another forum is you have to put pictures up of the actual items for sale?
and no generic item photos either. -

MrFoxmanI think the trusted sellers thread is a great idea and worthwhile.

TF_Spuds1Trusted seller sticky thread at the top of the for sale section .
Feedback like fleabay would be good but i understand programming this into the site would cost .

TF_ian_kentMods/Admin..
Can i just chuck something into the plot here..
The Trusted sellers thread at top is the best way to encourage some trust in members on here, but it can sometimes become another chat thread,.
imo, the best thing is to have a sticky post rather than thread and any members that are trusted, theyre names are to be pm’d to a mod/admin and they and they alone can add them to a list on there..?? With a side thing of who “trusted” them..???
I appreciate it would become more work for you boys, but theres no point having a trusted thread if you can find the names of anyone you feel you would like to deal with.
