Put them in a bag squeeze the air out and pop them in the freezer over night, if you don’t take the air out they will need longer in the freezer else they come back alive.

Try a pellet pump so all the air is pumped out instead of a bag as you can get more air out then freeze them.

I also use the pellet pump to keep casters as well for a short time

Riddle all the saw dust or maze out of the maggots. Make a cup of tea or coffee. Add milk to taste. Pour the hot drink over the maggots and watch them die. The addition of milk is just enough to stop the maggots from scalding and losing there color. As soon as the maggots stop moving. Add cold water to cool. Jobs done and the maggots will keep there color and should not get too stretched. You can freeze your maggots to kill them. However, it needs to be done several days before use. Otherwise, once the maggot thaw out. You will find that they are still alive.

Get two thin walled plastic tubs.I use to cartons from the chinkey.Pour boiling water in one,put the maggots in the other.Float tub on boiling water and watch them do the dance of death. When they stop wriggling pour a little cold water to cool down. This takes about two minuets.

                    1. Buy fresh normal maggots and riddle off all of the dust.
                    2. Put them in an air tight bag with no air and ideally put them in a fridge for 24 hours ( if in a hurry just leave in the warm to stretch.)
                    3. Open bag and put in Krill powder the more the better)
4 . Reseal bag with no air and keep in deep freeze for at least 36 hours. (less than that and they will not die and the come back to life)
5 Take out to defrost ideally 12 hours before use. (as they defrost they absorb the krill powder.

This way is best and you can always have reserves in the freezer ready to use.

Just rub a few maggots between leg and finger/hand pressing hard. Do as required which in winter is going to be very few! Do it on the bank whilst fishing.
