Great hook, used on 0.06 and 0.08 lines. Are they too fine to go with 0.10, i.e. they would open up before the line would break?

I use them with a soft set doubled 5 elastic and 0.10mm trace no problem for roach, skimmers and F1s, even landing the odd carp too.

ive tied em on 0.10 and had no problems with em
landed carp upto 5lb on em as well!

What would be the problem if they did open up before the line broke. Surely better for the fish not to have the hook in its mouth, and the angler who would have to change the hooklength anyway now has the choice just to bend the hook back into shape or change the hook or the hook length.

Ally, fair comment but my point is if the hook opened up with say 0.08mm line before the line breaks, then there is no point using 0.10mm.

On reflection I maybe didn’t put it that well.

Ive been using them all winter with 0.09 and 0.10 bottoms with no problems at all.

Apart from the name obviously what is th difference between these and the Drennan silverfish maggot pattern ?

Superb hook. If you’re worried, try the Drennan Silverfish Pellet. Slightly thicker wire, but still fine enough for winter. I use them on 0.1, 0.12 and 0.14mm.

ive used both and to be honest theres not a lot of difference
except i found the silverfish maggot went blunter quicker!!
