Welcome to the Elinor Fishing Report
Water slowly clearing but fishing well in milder weather.
April 2nd – 8th
78 anglers caught 284 fish of which 207 were returned
No monsters but 18 fish over 4lb
Best Areas
Bank – shallow bay, gravel bar, lagoon, east arm, dam
Boat – east arm, coarse bank, gravel bar, dam
Best Patterns
black/green or white/green lures, black buzzer, black cruncher, green diawl bach, red apps
Wet weather and flooding kept many anglers away. The water level is very high but clarity is improving daily.
Only two boats have been out so far this week. On Monday, Richard Honey anchored off the pylon then the lagoon to take 14 fish on a floating line with a white lure. Meanwhile on the bank, Chris Selby also took 14 on a red apps while fishing shallow bay.
Only bank anglers fished today, Tuesday. There was a huge buzzer hatch and fish were rising in the calm conditions although most fish were caught 1-3 foot down.
Colin Ashpole had 11, mostly from the lagoon. Alan Rennocks managed 12 from brookside and Jim Nixon had a bonanza with 18 from shallow bay and Goodfellow bay, many of his fish coming to buzzers.
Elinor is rammed full of fish as there’s been too much stocking and not enough anglers!
Next Stocking
April 12th
Sunday April 29th
Elinor will hold a heat of the Scierra Pairs boat competition. Boats still available.
