Elinor Weekly Fishing Report Saturday 9th – Friday 16th June 2023
73 Anglers caught 162 fish of which 125 fish were returned
Another bright and breezy start to the week here at Elinor….A nice fall of flying ants on Saturday morning tempted the fish to feed on the surface, Darren Oram caught 14 on his half-day morning session. In the afternoon Brad managed a couple of hours, netting 10 on claret dries. On Sunday regular angler John Balladon had a good day landing 16, switching between black or claret midas and damsels, at the dam end of the lake. Monday’s increased air temp made the fishing more difficult and pushed the surface temp to 21 degrees towards the end of the week. The fish are deeper in the water, fishing under an indicator at 10 feet down, with deep buzzers and sinking line tactics being the best method. We’re looking forward to cooler temperatures this week and a switch in the wind direction, finally!

A huge congratulations to Team England on winning gold at the 5 Nations Fly fishing Championship, it was hard going with far from ideal conditions at both venues. Small fabs and nymphs and some deep wading was the way forward at Elinor, well done to all that fished.
