5lb 2oz Alan Rennocks, Kettering, pink apps, boat
Best Areas
Bank – dam, east arm, lagoon
Boat – pylon point, east arm, down middle
Best Patterns
Damsel nymph, dry damsel, brown hopper, black or olive buzzer, red cruncher, pink/red apps
Bank fishing has been very difficult in the heatwave with early morning giving the best chance.
Boat anglers who fished the deeper water down the middle have kept the rod average up by either targeting the damsel feeders with nymphs or dries or fishing in the deeper, cooler water off pylon point with buzzers or apps on a long leader.
On a very hot Sunday Matt Tuck caught 18 on black buzzers fished deep and slow and Alan Rennocks tempted 10 on pink apps or red cruncher while out in a morning boat.
Water clarity remains good and a return to lower temperatures should help the bank fishing.
