TF_mike pattinsonHave the FIN PERFECT 6MM EXPANDER PELLET changed.
Been using these for quite a while for jelly pellets been brilliant bought two new bags that are now more round in shape and find them exceptionally soft and dropping to bits on shipping out, even when gelatined.
Anyone else had a problem or noticed a difference.
what do you recommend in 6 & 8mm

BiffParticipantEverybody keeps telling me all these pellets come from the same place. So how is it that I too find the Ringers New Generation are a lot better than most others I have tried.Hold their texture well ,stay on the hook and I am reliably informed that if I fish better than I have been recently they also catch plenty of fish!

Anonymousyet another vote for the next generation expanders.

TF_carpmagicParticipantBiff, thats cause the Ringers next gens dont come from the same place as the majority.

AnonymousI,ve always used Skretting expanders and have total confidence in them. They help to catch me a lot of fish. I struggled to find them this summer in my local tackle shops. Tried loads of different expanders and they where all rubbish and really struggled to catch anything on them. I,ve now got my normal Skretting expanders and im now catching properly on expander pellets again. I never came across the Ringers New Generation expanders or i would have tried them. They do seem to have good reputation with quite a few anglers. So, maybe they are as good as some say. Saying that. I did try the cold water Ringers expander pellets and hardly caught a fish on those. Maybe its just me!

TF_kid_aThe only expanders I have found to be good over the last couple of years (obviously not tried them all)are the ringers cold water ones. I didnt like the next gen ones as I thought they turned to mush and the baitech ones were even worse!
On the baitech ones I shipped out dropped the rig in, didnt see a bite register on the float, lift out slowly and the pellet was gone. Maybe I just had a bad batch….

TF_jonoim using the 6mm ringers new gen expanders.
maybe i have a bad batch if i soak them too long they turn to mush or split in half when hooked.
it is trial and error after pumping , take them out of water too early and they are hard , a minute to long and they are mush.
but i won on sunday with 51 lb of carp on them so they do catch fish!

TF_Dave PelletHaving run out of my favourite GOT expanders, I bought a bag of replacements (GOT) and found them to be different, my old way of preparing them results in too mushy a pellet
so I tried the Ringers next generation ones, 2 problems here, first the 6mm pellets seem to expand too much & 2nd,they also turn to mush!
at the moment I’m struggling a bit getting them right, so it’s chopped worm & caster at the moment for me…

Don’t pump them! Just soak for a few seconds night before and squeeze in water as you hook them.

TF_SliderI have been using the baittech ones and find them superb.
Pumped or soaked but prefer pumped.
Sounds like people are over pumping them if they are falling to bits.

TF_kid_aI think there must be massive variations in batches from the same supplier as I soaked the Baitech ones rather than pumping and it was the same as when I pumped them… However the coldwater ringers ones have always been consistently excellent..

TF_mike pattinsonThanks for the replies lads, seems I’m not the only one having problems.
After three years of using the same method (hot water, flavoring and gelatine) and pellets Fin Perfect, to prepare my hook baits I’m back to square one; trying to find a consistent method of preparing and pellet for hook baits.
I don’t want cold expanders as I use hot water & gelatine (lots of small fish murdering the pellet when shipping out and presenting).
Hard pellet doesn’t work!!

TF_gis9Does anyone use ordinary hard pellets after soaking overnight ? and if so do you find them better than expanders for hookers
