TF_geepsterParticipantThe publishers of Fish & Tips have announced through their Facebook page that they are closing after one issue due to lack of support from advertisers…
This is their statement:
Fish ‘n’ Tips Magazine
Despite the good response Fish‘n’Tips Magazine received at The Big One Show, online and via copy sales, the second issue has been cancelled.
Fishermen liked our fresh approach, however, as we struggled to get support from advertisers, which is half of the revenue stream for a magazine, we were unable to continue. Many thanks to those …who did support us. Subscribers – your refund will be posted shortly. -

TF_JohnHClearly their business plans were not thought through. How they could launch and only produce one issue seems very odd.
Looking at the cover picture it looks to me like they were dumbing down like the red top national papers.
I do fear for publishers as the written word is being increasingly replaced with the electronic media. News papers very rarely are up to date with the real news so have to give away free DVDs etc to survive, a very slippery slope IMO. -

Surely a coincidence??
I’d heard rumours before Christmas that a lads mag type fishing mag was being done, and I wondered then if tackle traders would want to advertise in it.
Did it have a page of 0898 numbers? Bivvi Babes 4U 2 Glug!

TF_andy cranes mateParticipantMaybe the large publishing house that does most of the other mag’s threatened to pull the plug on the advertisers if they supported it?

TF_baitchefParticipantI think people need to get over the preconceived image that we as anglers are all fat, beer swigging, dope smoking, pie eating, perverted sun readers……..
when we all know its the dail sport.

TF_paulDIMO the angling press is just one big advertising business nowdays and just there to sell stuff to mugs like us. Same as our national papers and politics. But most still seem to believe what they read.
Would be nice to see a independent mag not scared of telling truth and written by anglers. Guess forums like this is as close as well get. -

Daddy BParticipantLeaving aside the tacky look of the magazine (which as others have said is a major flaw), trying to cater for coarse, sea and game angling within one magazine and doing justice to none of them was never going to be a formula that would appeal to me. I guess most anglers would feel the same.
