henchyu123ParticipantHi,
does anybody know if we have to pay anymore on the day or is it just the £20 we paid for the ticket?
Regards
-

PaTicleYo matey,
I understand not, your money should have been paid up front on application. If you have a ticket, then it will have been paid.
Take note of the rules posted at the entrance to the shop, they may have changed a bit from what you read on the website.
Especially the keepnet rules, take 3 with you in case you do really well.
Weather is looking OK and a fair match should ensue. at least this year there’s 2 winners per lake not the best 10/12 as was last time which did not work.
See you there, and good luck. -

TF_rowdyim also fishing this one this year mate cant get time of for lindholme match.read a few reports butnot sure yet how to tackle it,depends on the draw i suppose.
-
06/04/2011 at 9:39 am #137099
PaTicleMost definitely down to the draw. Each lake needs to be tackled slightly differently it seems so you’ll need to cover a lot of options.
Now I’m not a regular there and this is a big disadvantage as many in the competition probably are.
But you need to fish to your strengths and not try to replicate what the locals are doing on the day I’ve found otherwise you’re chasing their tails.
Be positive and don’t get intimidated by the competition, otherwise you’ll be beaten before you start.
You’ll have a good day whatever, as it can’t possibly be as bad a day as last year.
Good Luck especially at the draw. -

henchyu123Participantit’s okay ive read the magazine again.
i sent my £20 off and now just read you have to pay another £20 on the day for pools £40 is abit over priced for a days fishing dont you think?
-
06/04/2011 at 11:47 am #137108
PaTicleOops, sorry If I mislead anyone. Thanks for correcting my mastike!
Couldn’t possibly comment. You do get a nice Garbolino cap, and to meet Darren Cox and possibly Dave Harrell too – that must be worth it surely! -
06/04/2011 at 11:51 am #137109
TF_kid_aAre the pools optional though?
-
06/04/2011 at 12:46 pm #137112
DaveHarrellParticipantThe pools tomorrow are £20 as stated in the January and February issues. By doing it this way this year it will mean £10,000 worth of tackle prizes plus big cash prizes for the winners in the final in addition to good money prizes tomorrow. There are 15 qualifiers going through from each region too this year.
Should be a good match – see you there if you’re there! -
06/04/2011 at 12:56 pm #137114
TF_total12Day off work. Weather should be spot on. Hopefully there will be a little bit of room with the pegging. Really looking forward to it.
I have been trying to work out how many are on the match itself, knowing how many pegs are on each pool and 15 going through. Have now given up trying to work it out
Rigs all done, wurzel Gummidge fishing head on, just need a favourable draw now, hopefully with a bit of room too. -

TF_FISHER-PRICEThe sad thing is Rob you’ve been hounded out of the competition for nothing more than knowing the venue very well and being bloody good at what you do there, that is just wrong in my opinion.
The people involved need to look at those who really don’t qualify instead of having a pop at people merely because they are regarded as venue experts.
Sumo, had I been a competitor in todays events I would certainly have made my feelings known.
As for naming and shaming I don’t think it will be necessary, I happen to know there are one or two rather disgruntled, genuine, unsponsored anglers present at tunnel today, and if any of them have anything about them they will be raising the issue.
My hope is that those who qualify are deserving of their places in the final, fingers crossed! -
07/04/2011 at 6:45 pm #137282
LuckySicouldnt agree more. I fished today definitely a few there. Another point id like to add, considering itis supposed to be one angler per club there were anglers turning up in 3’s, 4’s and even 6 at one point! Think there maybe a few one member clubs afoot lol
-
07/04/2011 at 7:31 pm #137287
TF_BucksParticipantI qualified today from Club pool peg 15 with 73lb 8oz (my new match record) I am a club angler who fishes with my local Pub team (nothing too serious) and have never entered a open match until today never mind being sponsored so as you can imagine I’m well chuffed.

TF_FISHER-PRICEWell done Bucks, I know exactly how you feel mate, did it myself a couple of years ago and was on cloud nine for days. The final is a cracking day out, matchfishing and garbolino really will make it a special day and look after everyone who makes the final, not to mention Nigel the gaffer at Barston.
Was buzzing even more after the final as I managed to finish runner up on the day and won a new pole.
Enjoy mate! -

TF_FISHER-PRICE…it makes it even better that you are a genuine club angler.

08/04/2011 at 11:31 am #137351
henchyu123ParticipantJust like to say its alot fairer this year with it being 2 qualify from each pool at tunnel barn yesterday it was so much better. At least your not disheartened when you draw a different pool to what you fancied out the bag cause at least you still had a chance of qualifying.
With regards to sponsered anglers and venue experts, why if your frameing most weeks against the tunnel barn masters like paul newell, pete rice, andy jackson etc why would you want to fish and batter club anglers? surely its as step backwards?

TF_hempseedWhat did everyone think of the extra £20 pools?? I personally thought its a bit much with £20 entrance too. I think £10 extra would have been plenty if they must raise the prize fund in the final. Some guys in queue had a shock when they see me with money in hand as they thought you only paid the extra if you qualfied, (which would not be a bad idea, as there are already some fab prizes on offer thanks to darren cox and garbolino) I sure the turnout will fall next year as alot never realised this extra money, and £40 for a match for club anglers is well steep! Well done to garbolino though for sponsoring the event and good luck to those who made the final from the midlands!

TF_GALPSLooking forward to the Lindholme qualifier.

about the same as you hempseed regarding the extra £20,given the 85 miles we travelled it was a bit of an expensive day out.first time me and my mate have been to tbf.we didn’t qualify but enjoyed the day.as with most places it seamed if you don’t draw well you won’t/can’t win.
well done to ‘bucks’ though,he doesn’t know me but i spoke to him after the weigh in.another lad from up our way won on his lake and qualified. -

TF_BucksParticipantThanks Si, Wayne and Mart, I can’t wait for the Final, never fished Barston so might need to get there for a few practices
-
11/04/2011 at 9:23 pm #137684
TF_FISHER-PRICEThere’s plenty of matches being run there at the moment if you want some match practice on the lake bud, even if you don’t it’s still a great place to pleasure fish and no doubt Nigel would make you most welcome.
All I can say about the place is, if Carslberg did fisheries…….. -

TF_Leaky Lloydits a club anglers fisho this comp!
its awsome and really well run by the mf team !!!!
just a shame some people take liberties and enter purely for the spoils because alot obviously aint clubbies !!!
but then again, if they fish for a club you cant really turn em away !!!
i didnt qualify this year gutted !!!!
but good luck to all who have genuinly entered all the same !!!ps,, id be interested to see if certain anglers turned up and entered if the winner got a massive trophy saying clubbie and maybe a couple of hundred pound winnings as opposed to a couple of grands worth of pole plus extra’s !!!!!!!
