Report:
The Lizard at Dynamite Baits Makins produced an excellent close match for the Thursday Kobra Open, with the result in the balance until the final whistle.
Browning Central’s Gaz Wood (peg 11) fished the first half on waggler and caster shallow to take roach, then switched to long pole and pellet for a small carp and finished strongly on roach on caster from the margin for 13 lb 8 oz to win.
Runner up Jason Shirley (Bailey’s of Warwick) on peg 32 caught little early on then switched to feeding small balls of fishmeal with maggot hook bait to catch roach and perch with regularity at 6m to finish with 11 lb 14 oz for second place.
In contrast, Chris Harrison (Bailey’s of Warwick) on peg 8 caught early on fishing pole and caster at 8m, but struggled in the latter stages. He included 6 decent skimmers in his 10 lb 10 oz third placed catch.
The match on Thursday 20th January will be on Lagoon (9.30am draw)
