TF_JohnHDid this event take place last Sunday after Fisho on Saturday?
I have only seen one small reference on here that England won it.
Nothing else??? I checked Tight lines web site on Sky and nothing there either.
I dont want copies of the footage as I am sure this infringes copyright but I would have thought such a prestigious match would get more media coverage.
All I want to know is the result and some comment on tactics and why certain tactics on the day worked better than others.
Last year it was such a sucess there was loads of comment on here but sadly not this year. -

TF_DodgeIt was a masterclass by England JohnH 😉
Will Raison and Des Shipp didnt even have to move off there 10 mtr pole lines allday , light elastics , light lines (0.11 hooklength) small bits of worm hookbait catching everything that swims from roach , skimmers, crucians , tench , barbel and big carp , watching them play and land the big fish on light tackle and stay so cool was brilliant tv and brilliant to watch 😎 A lot of fish were caught early in the first 2 weighs unlike the individual comp the previous day , i think sky missed a trick though in NOT showing the cips rules pre baiting England and the other international teams used . Alan Scothorne had a ruck of skimmers and odd barbel on the waggler and maggots once his pole line dried up and Steve Hemingray caught well down the edge late on . Superb to watch and an equisite display of how to build a weight and stay cool under pressure from ALL the England team.

TF_bbbackshotParticipantEngland fished really well, and so did Jamie Masson, but it would have been a huge dissapointment if they hadnt won, i think they could have picked multiple teams out of all the commercial anglers we have.
I would have liked to have seen more footage of alan fishing and feeding his waggler line, instesd of 15 mins someone playing a fish, with all the should he stand up sit down debate going on.Just my view, -

TF_JohnHIf Will fed groundbait to the island you can bet he was not practicing his catty skills!!
Team fishing, can on the face of it seem boring because each individual is working for the team and definately not fishing his own match. The runners job is to evaluate how the other teams are doing and then to advise each angler how they need to modify tactics accordingly.
A bit like a game of chess, team fishing at the top level, and we should be proud of the England team. However all of the home nations are far from being also rans in international events, name me a sport of any description where you can say that. Truly world class all of them.
Still have not seen the full results anywhere on the web. -

TF_Johnny Big BallsThe problem with sky’s coverage is that its understandably ‘dumbed down’ a little and probably tends to cater for anglers without the knowledge of open match men. So they tend to show and discuss basics rather than the more technical aspects.

TF_bbbackshotParticipantIt cant really be classed as a home international if england have home advantage each year, its not really fair on the irish lads who rarely fish comercials, what price shamus mc geldart, and paddy o`machin making an apearance for them

TF_wightanglerDespite immensely enjoying again,
minded of a quite a few recent comments from anglers and management about the new ‘second’ team squad of mainly young anglers who’ve really impressed.
Itally as well as having a larger new squad format – also more financial assistance to enable a very significant army of up to 22 bank runners apparently, which makes finding a plan and how other team’s tactics are working far more effective by logistic capacity.Perhaps, in view of the greater FIPS objective, this sunday match could be made to feature a younger second ‘fringe team’ plus two invited international teams?
This might certainly be better for England’s future, but might not prove such a big TV viewer draw as the current’ home’. Also Wales, Scotland and Ireland might not be so happy as currently it must surely be worthwhile for them- particularly the Irish who don’t have local carp venues – with carp now featuring as a target species for many Euro FIPS venues, exampled by the recent Euro’s in Merida.
2013 is in S.Africa so just travel cost alone is going to be surely prohibitive to a lot of national teams and not just smaller ones. I know a fair few of the England Sea Anglers including the ladies had to save out of their own pockets for quite a while just to attend and represent their country a couple of years back. With this in mind, sponsorship is going to become increasingly significant so perhaps a paid in annual international’subscription’ pool(paid into be national federations) to mitigate this, and a spending cap for team/travel/practice costs(and perhaps a % of any sponsorship or Govt. money put into this poosible pool) – might be seen as making future FIPS and venue access fairer for all national team entrants particularly the U16’s & U23 and smaller nations like the other three home nations?Just some thoughts for future possibly – as nevertheless thoroughly enjoyed the current Fisho home int. and no complaint inferred by the suggestions i’d make clear.
